Cocktail How To: Tuxedo No. 2

Nothing evokes the feeling of classic elegance than a tuxedo. In this instance, the Tuxedo No. 2 is a classic gin, absinthe and maraschino drink, which is a variation on the original mid 1800s Improved Cocktail by Jerry Thomas. On location at the Hideaway Seaport bar in New York City, Tim Miner of Magic Touch Cocktails consulting demonstrates how to mix one at your home bar. Here you'll find a handy list of the proper glassware, tools and ingredients, including Luxardo Maraschino liqueur, Cinzano dry vermouth and gin, in this instance Miner reaches for 2014 NY International Spirits Competition silver medal winner Queens Courage. From here, you'll learn the proper way to stir the cocktail and apply just the right amount of absinthe (here Miner uses 2015 NYISC silver medal winner Mt. Defiance Absinthe Superieur) so as not to overwhelm the other ingredients. Finally, how to garnish your drink for further aromatics and make it pretty.

Soon you'll be stirring up your own fancy Tuxedo to sip, even if you're keeping casual wearing cutoff jeans and flip-flops.

Cheers!
